  • Bathroom Rugs – For Safety and Style

Bathroom rugs have always existed in homes, but in modern times, this trend has certainly taken on a whole new meaning. This is because the rug-making industry has recently taken bathroom rugs seriously and is making serious efforts to cater to public tastes and give them what they want.

A bathroom rug is not only decorative, but functional when stepping out of the shower or tub. Stepping out of a shower or tub with wet feet is not only dangerous and exposes you to the chances of slipping or falling, but eventually the water can damage the flooring in the bathroom. They are popular for a lot of reasons but the main one is safety – their original purpose was to stop people from slipping on a wet or damp floor after bathing or showering. The bath rug eliminates this fear because it gives the bather a stable and comfortable surface to dry themselves on. Bath rugs are especially useful in a busy house with kids where you’ll have the shower in use for hours at a time

They are therefore a great to both making your dwelling cosier, preventing accidents and help keep your feet warm and dry no matter how cold the bathroom tiles are. The bathroom rugs that you buy should have rubber backings to avoid them slipping on the tiles when you stand on them. For rugs without rubber backings, you can purchase rubber, non-skid backers to put under throw rugs to prevent them from skidding.

Putting in a rug is a sure way to revitalize the bathroom. They are an inexpensive and excellent way to give new life to any bathroom, whether larger or small, full or half bath. This is because they allow creative freedom without going to the extent of re-wallpapering, re-tiling or putting a fresh coat of paint on the walls. If that cream-colored bathroom mat is looking dreary and drab, opt for a dazzling, deep wine red rug.

Take a look at what material your rug is made from. Cotton is a durable material, but these rugs can wear out over time if they are dried out properly. More durable bathroom rugs are typically made out of Rayon, Acrylic or polypropylene.

Bath rugs can be purchased in any home improvement store, department store, rug shop, home design store, or discount store imaginable. Before you purchase anything though, first carefully measure your space to ensure whatever rug you get will properly fit. If you have a very large bathroom rug then it can span that distance between the shower and the sink so you can move from showering to brushing your teeth and shaving in safety too.
